It is important that we give vegetables what they need to keep them healthy and to continue producing free fresh vegetables for us. Neglecting our garden may lead to a lower yield and could result in more serious problems like pests. Watering

Water is equally important as the sunlight when we are growing vegetables. Without regular water, you may not get the harvest that you are expected. Check on the type of vegetables that you have on how frequently you need to water them.

Sunlight

Vegetables need the sun for photosynthesis, it needs at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight when you have the fastest-growing vegetables. Check on the type of plants on how long they should be exposed to sunlight.

Thinning

Maintain your plants recommended spacing distance, seedlings growing closely together will stunt the plants and will reduce your harvest. To maintain a healthy garden you need to remove excess seedlings.

Weeding

Weeds will compete with your vegetables for the soil nutrients and water. Get rid of weeds so your plants stay in tip-top shape.

Mulching

Mulching cools down plant roots during summer, conserves water, and suppresses weeds. Seed-free straw is the most preferred mulch for your vegetable gardens.

Garden Soil Enrichment

Make sure that you read the instructions at the back of your seed packets, so you know what kind of fertilizer and the amount you need to put on. Different plants have different needs in terms of enriching your garden soil.

Pests And Diseases

Keep animals out of your garden like deer and rabbits they can wreak havoc in your garden. Remove some big insects by hand like caterpillars, or spray some insecticides for bigger quantities of insect pests. Water the soil and not the leaves of the plants may reduce fungal disease.
